Your First Visit
Patient Forms
Patient Intake Form. Simply print the patient intake form and bring it with you on the first visit.
Consultation
Next, you will have a consultation with Dr. Dockery to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for Dr. Joseph Dockery to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals.
Examination
After your consultation, Dr. Dockery will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing your reflexes and flexibility. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well. However, nothing will be done in our office without your consent.
X-Ray Studies
Depending on your specific condition, we may have X-rays taken at Adirondack Health. X-rays help us discover underlying reasons for acute and chronic conditions. Using Adirondack Health gives us the advantage of a medical radiologist reviewing the film. The x-rays can be viewed in our office immediately as we are connected to the hospital's imaging database. Dr. Dockery is also an expert in reading x-rays and is able to see where the patient is (current problem), where the patient has been (conditions that lead to spinal degeneration), and where the patient is going (further degenerative changes if something isn't done about the progressive nature of degenerative conditions.)
Report of Findings
Once the information is collected and examinations are performed, Dr. Dockery will give you a detailed report of all findings and answer any questions including:
- How can you help me?
- How often do I need to come in?
- What will my treatment cost?
After reviewing your health history, goals, and examining your spine and X-rays, Dr. Dockery will discuss recommendations and notify you if your condition requires care with other providers.
Treatment
If an adjustment is dicatated Dr. Dockery will adjust you on this first visit. A typical adjustment will include the application of heat (ice in acute conditions), a light massage and muscle trigger point therapy and a full spine diversified adjustment.
